The National Institute of Meteorology (INAME) has forecast heavy rains and thunder from tomorrow night until Monday for provinces in the north and centre of the country.
The forecast names the Sanga, Lago, Muembe, Ngauma, Mandimba, Metarica and Cuamba districts of Niassa province and Lichinga city as areas particularly at risk, and Malema, Lalaua, Ribáuè, Murrupula, Meconta, Mogovolas, Mogincual, Liupo, Larde, Angoche, Moma and the city of Nampula in Nampula province.
In the centre of the country, Tete province districts Chifunde , Macanga, Angónia, Chiuta, Tsangano and Moatize are likely to be affected.
In Zambezia, Milange, Morrumbala, Guruè, Namarrói, Lugela, Mocuba, Alto Molócuè, Ile, Maganja da Costa, Nicoadala, Namacurra and the city of Quelimane are most at risk.
INAME forecasts more than 75 mm of rainfall in 24 hours for the locations mentioned accompanied by thunder storms and recommends taking all precautions associated with lightning and heavy rain.
