The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) predicts, from this afternoon, the occurrence of winds with strong gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour, causing maritime agitation and waves s between 3 and 4 metres high.
According to a press release issued this afternoon by INAM, winds with strong gusts will reach the entire coastal region of the provinces of Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane.
This phenomenon results from the passage of a ridge of high pressure on the southern end of the Mozambique Channel, the effects of which will also be felt in the mainland region of Maputo and Gaza provinces during the period under review.
The system is progressively moving and may influence from tomorrow, August 18, the coast of Sofala and Zambézia provinces.
The note calls on the population to take precautionary and safety measures in the face of the risks associated with gusty winds and maritime agitation.
