In the closing speech of the 4th Ordinary session of the Frelimo Central Committee, delivered in Matola on Sunday evening, Filipe Nyusi stated that the meeting served for the ‘comrades’ to ‘x-ray’ the social, political, economic and cultural situation of the country, with a focus on developmental factors.
Nyusi, the Frelimo president, stressed several times that what drives the party he leads is the defence of the interests of the Mozambican nation.
Among the topics discussed at the 4th Ordinary session of the Frelimo Central Committee were the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado and the armed attacks by the Renamo Military Junta in the centre of the country. The CC meeting reaffirmed support for the Defence and Security Forces, who are fighting the enemy in the north for the sake of social and political stability in Mozambique.
“We want to open up a new history of the country’s pacification,” Nyusi said, promising to continue dialogue with all society stakeholders with the aim of maintaining peace in the country.
Nyusi said that evaluation of the government’s Five Year Plan showed that it was committed to goals such as improving the well-being of the populations, preserving sovereignty and consolidating the gains achieved for the economic development of Mozambique.
For the comrades, the 4th Ordinary session of the Central Committee would marked the apotheosis of the celebration of the historic victory in the elections of 15 October 2019, and what was decided there would serve as a reference for future actions.
Nyusi also appealed for the joint preparation of the 12th Frelimo congress, to be held from 23 to 28 September 2022, in Matola.
Towards the end of the session, he announced the names of the new chiefs of the party’s Central Brigades.
