Water supply to the cities of Maputo and Matola and the town of Boane “has been experiencing anomalies ” since this Thursday morning, May 4th, the Empresa Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRMM) announced yesterday in a statement.
“The situation stems from a breakdown in the main power line that feeds the Umbelúzi catchment, water treatment plant [ETA], in Maputo Province,” the communique reveals.
As a consequence, there has been “a drop in water pressure and pockets of water cuts in several neighbourhoods supplied by the Umbelúzi system”, AdRMM adds.
Work is under way to restore normal service, the statement reads.
