Judicial authorities in the central Mozambican province of Sofala have ordered three men suspected of murdering a Portuguese citizen in the city of Beira to await trial in prison, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.
According to Notícias, the suspects, all between the ages of 21 and 24, will await their judicial proceedings in custody, after being presented to a judge.
Their victim, an employee in the Beira branch of a Portuguese company in the capital of Sofala, was found dead on the Pungwue river on the 30th December, after being kidnapped.
Less than 24 hours later, another Portuguese citizen, aged 70, was murdered in the city of Chimoio, Manica province, central Mozambique, following an assault on her home, the Portuguese Secretary of State for Communities has made known.
Mozambican authorities detained two suspects for assault and murder in the case.
