In a video, residents are seen throwing stones and abusing Governor Rochas Okorocha for erecting a statue of President Jacob Zuma in Imo.
Governor Rochas Okorocha’s convoy was on Monday stoned by angry residents on the streets of Imo in Nigeria for erecting a statue of South African President Jacob Zuma.
In a video doing the rounds on social media, residents are seen throwing stones and abusing the governor for erecting the statue.

On Monday, the Guild of Nigerian Professionals group criticised Okorocha’s decision to erect the statue, calling it unacceptable.
The professionals’ group argued that the statue is not beneficial to Nigerians and that the money could have been used for something else.
Zuma was awarded the highest honour during a visit to Nigeria’s Imo State at the weekend. A street has also been named after him.
The United Labour Congress of Nigeria has instructed the governor to apologize to citizens of the state for disgracing them.
