A newborn child has been abducted by a complete stranger from the Eduardo Mondlane Health Centre in Chimoio, capital of Manica province.
The perpetrator of the crime took advantage of the innocence of the baby’s underage sister, giving her 50 meticais to go and buy food. The kidnapped baby is only a week old.
The baby’s mother, shocked by the situation, says she found out only after leaving the consultation room.
Family members had little to say, only pleading for justice and the baby’s safe return to its family.
Management at the Eduardo Mondlane Health Centre confesses it greatly regrets the occurrence, adding that this is the first time anything like it has ever happened there.
The mother, desperate over the baby’s abduction, says that all that remains for her is to wait.
