Taking advantage of Covid-19 preventative measures, Maputo City Council (CACM) has started to remove food and beverage outlets in Praia do Costa do Sol as part of its plan to protect and better manage the capital’s coastline.
Acting even prior to Municipal Assembly approval of the regime for the protection, management and use of the coast and beaches of the City of Maputo, the removal of the food and drink outlets began in the early hours of Thursday (April 30) along Costa do Sol beach.
Following a warning of removal, and thanks to the limitations on the movement of people imposed by the State of Emergency, the removal of stalls and other traders proceeded in a peaceful manner. @Verdade knows that the CACM plan is to move chicken and magumba traders to the vicinity of the Fish Market on Avenida Marginal, also in Costa do Sol.
@Verdade has revealed that this action is part of the municipal plan to “txunar” [polish] the country’s capital, and the reorganisation of traders will be followed by the imposition of sanctions on beach-goers who litter the beaches with food, drink and so on.
