Claiming to be victims of domestic violence, two children risked their lives under a bus bound for the city of Pemba in Cabo Delgado province. The minors were discovered at Inchope.
The two children decided to take a high-risk trip to escape the alleged domestic violence they had been subject to in their families.
Their destination was the city of Pemba, but the trip that started at the interprovincial bus terminal in Maputo and came to an end some 800 kilometres later, at a stop near the Inchope intersection of, after a survey of the bus.
After the incident was broadcast on the Miramar Television programme ‘Balanço Geral’, a family member of one of the children arrived in the afternoon of the same day.
Grandfather Constâncio Cossa denies that the grandson who has lived with for him 11 years has been a victim of domestic violence, but says he disappeared from his home in the Magoanine neighbourhood of Maputo three months ago.
Quiet and reserved in speech, Constâncio revealed that the child’s parents were separated, and had never provided a satisfactory family environment.
