In order cut bureaucracy and accelerate and foster greater dynamism in its response to client needs, the Ministry of Health is to take direct supervisionl over Maputo Central Hospital, TVM reports.
The Council of Ministers yesterday approved a decree redefining the competences of this health unit, and conferring greater administrative, technical and scientific autonomy. The hospital will thereby gain speed and flexibility in providing services to the public, focusing on patient care.
Maputo Central Hospital is now to be directly supervised by the Ministry of Health, ending its subordination to a number of sub-directorates.
Asked about the impact of the new management model on user fees, Cabinet spokeswoman Ana Comoana said that the goal was to make healthcare more flexible, and that healthcare costs would not rise.
Also in yesterday’s session, the Cabinet analysed a report on the South African president’s visit to Mozambique on Saturday, as well as other decrees, such as the review of the licensing and operation of private employment agencies and the decree which approves the information policy.
