War won’t help us, says Renamo

Newly elected Renamo leader Ossufo Momade has guaranteed that the country’s largest opposition party will demilitarize because “war will not help us and we must avoid it”.
Momade made this assurance on Thursday at the sixth Renamo Congress, which ended on Friday.
“We have been taught and this lesson is in our heads. We will not prevail for war, ever, because we assume that commitment from our president, No to war. The only way to find and achieve peace is dialogue, this is what we are going to prevail. The war will not help us and we must avoid it,” said Momade who was elected with 410 votes, against 238 of Elias Dhlakama, seven of Manuel Bissopo and six of Juliano Picardo.
