Mobile phone company Viettel has expressed interest in installing 4G equipment in Mozambique in an investment that foresees the creation of a fund to avoid the negative impact of currency fluctuations, Lusa reports.
“We invited Viettel to discuss the best ways to access what they want from us with the communications sector,” Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário told reporters after a meeting with representatives of Viettel in Vietnam, where he has been conducting a working visit.
Viettel already has a presence in Mozambique through Movitel, the country’s third-largest telephone operator.
Agostinho do Rosário also said that it was important that Viettel bring more entrepreneurs to Mozambique, as a way of diversifying the country’s investment here.
“But this has to be done within the legislation and regulations that we have,” the prime minister pointed out. “They can count on our affection and support as far as possible within the regulations,” he added.
During his four-day visit to Vietnam, the prime minister signed agreements on civil aviation and conservation and expressed interest in cooperating in the management of natural disasters.
