Vietnamese flees Maputo airport when 8 rhino horns are found in his luggage

The police seized eight rhino horns a suitcase belonging to a Vietnamese citizen at Maputo International Airport on Sunday.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing on Monday, Orlando Mudumane, police spokesman for the city of Maputo, said: “At around 22h00 on Sunday at Maputo International Airport, a suitcase with eight rhino horns weighing in total 8.8 kilograms was seized. The horns were in a suitcase bound for Vietnam. When the owner realised what was happening, he fled.”

Mudumane said efforts to secure the man’s capture were ongoing.
