Victor Gomes was deputy governor of the central bank, the regulator of the Mozambican financial system, between 2017 and 2022. Prior to that, between 2014 and 2017, he was chairman of Ports and Railways of Mozambique (CFM).
“I am aware of the great responsibility that this position entails, and I am ready and available to face it with determination and commitment, with everyone’s collaboration,” highlighted Victor Gomes. “Together, we have the capacity to achieve great things and continue to strengthen our position as a reference in the Mozambican market.”
Luísa Diogo’s departure was marked by an event at the South African banking institution at which several moments in the history of the former Minister of Finance of Mozambique were recalled. She was presented with a portrait “representing dear Madam Chair”, as she was affectionately known.
The portrait’s painter, Dionésio Matabel, is a participant in Absa’s Ready for Art program, where he stood out for his story and innate talent.
