The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Verónica Macamo, has commented on the ongoing “hidden debt” lawsuits that have led to the detention of former finance minister Manuel Chang in South Africa.
Speaking to the press in Cape Verde, where she is attending the 8th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Macamo said she hoped that the applicable legislation would be applied.
“We are following the matter. In terms of objectives, what we would like to see happen is that the applicable standards be scrupulously followed. Fundamentally, that the applicable norms be scrupulously applied,” she stressed.
