Venezuela and Mozambique promote “strategic” cooperation in the space area

Venezuela and Mozambique want to promote “strategic cooperation” in space exploration and utilisation, Venezuela’s Ministry of Science and Technology said at the end of a meeting between leaders of the two countries.
The president of the Venezuelan Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities (ABAE), Adolfo Godoy, on Tuesday met the coordinator of the Mozambican National Agency for Geospatial Development (ADE), Odete Semião, according to a statement.
“It was the first official meeting between the agencies to address and explore possible cooperation agreements in space matters, applications to boost the economy and boost the well-being of our peoples, as well as to strengthen cooperation in training,” the note penned by Godoy reads.
Odete Semião underlined that the National Agency for Geospatial Development wants to use spatial analysis to help create and define public policies, intervention strategies and action plans in Mozambique.
On November 1, Venezuela’s Deputy Minister for Africa, Yuri Pimentel, met the Mozambican ambassador to Brazil, João Gamaliel Sepúlveda, to discuss cooperation in energy, education and agriculture.
Pimentel said that, according to a statement from the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a first joint commission between the two nations would be held in the coming months.
In June, ABAE executive director Marglad Bencomo said that the agency was preparing to launch Venesat-2, Venezuela’s second telecommunications satellite.
