Valentina Guebuza, who was killed last Wednesday by her husband, Zófimo Muiuane, is to be buried tomorrow at the Lhanguene Cemetery in Maputo, her family has said.
Police confirmed yesterday that Valentina Guebuza was struck by four bullets at her residence in Maputo and died on the way to the hospital.
Guebuza married Zófimo Muiuane in July 2014 at a ceremony in Maputo, and together the couple had a child, now just over one year old.
Daughter of former Mozambican president Armando Guebuza and Maria da Luz, Valentina graduated in civil engineering from South Africa, and began work as a consultant there.
Her business career started with her family company Focus 21 in 2001, developing activities in sectors such as telecommunications, transportation, banking, real estate, fisheries and mines.
In 2006 she became head of the firm, assuming the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, at the same time that Focus 21 became a holding company.
She was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of StarTimes Media, a partnership between China’s StarTimes and Focus 21 created to manage Mozambique’s migration to digital radio and television signal.
