About five million US dollars is to be invested in the construction and operation of a tourist complex in Zinave National Park in Inhambane province’s Mabote district.
The 24-bed tourist complex will address the park’s lack of accommodation, and construction is to start soon. The conservation area can currently offer visitors tented accommodation, but conditions are not thought to be encouraging tourists.
The administrator of Zinave National Park, Pedro Pereira, said that this had spurred his search for investors, and he had secured a green light from South African business interests that were able to deliver the machinery and materials necessary to bring his vision to fruition.
Pereira said his strategic vision was to market Zinave National Park as an up-market destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
