Mozambique and the US sat down at the same table yesterday to talk about trade and investment. Before discussing reforms, the business environment and strategies, the US ambassador began by pointing to the political-military tension as the main barrier to investment.
“The biggest barrier to boosting investment and prosperity in Mozambique is still the tension and political instability,” the US ambassador said.
Minister of Industry and Commerce Max Tonela pointed to reforms in the business environment and the role of the Agreement on Trade and Investment initiative that aims to facilitate trade as well as attracting US investment.
The meeting also addressed the future of trade and investment relations in Mozambique and US laws affecting trade in African goods and products.
