Mozambique: President Chapo begins two-day visit to Rwanda

UN Secretary General António Guterres has expressed his willingness to help Mozambique mobilise resources to finance the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of the former Renamo military, supporting the pacification process underway in the country.
This sentiment was expressed to President Nyusi during a working meeting on Monday on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
President Nyusi told journalists that Secretary General Guterres wanted the peace process in Mozambique to continue to go forward, and commented on the increasing trust among Mozambicans.

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. The Secretary-General commended recent agreements reached in negotiations for a lasting peace and assured that the international community stands by the Mozambican people, as the country takes the next steps towards a sustainable peace. President Nyusi and the Secretary-General also exchanged views on upcoming elections and the Sustainable Development Goals. They further discussed strengthened cooperation between Mozambique and the United Nations.
