British Trade Commissioner for Africa Emma Wade Smith says UK companies are keen to invest in Mozambique’s industry, infrastructure and education,
“I look forward to working towards establishing new partnerships, improving trade links and investment opportunities between Mozambique and the United Kingdom,” Mozambican daily newspaper Noticias quotes Smith as saying.
“The UK is committed to becoming the largest G-7 investor in Africa by 2022, with a particular interest in strategic, job-creating sectors which will lead to growth in both our economies,” said Emma Wade Smith, who was in Mozambique for a working visit intended to strengthen economic and trade relations.
Referring to her visit to the natural gas-rich province of Cabo Delgado, in northern Mozambique, the UK special envoy noted that there was enormous potential for British investment there.
“I found that part of the portfolio of projects in the Provincial Strategic Development Plan for investment is aligned with areas British business can quickly invest in, namely industry, infrastructure and education,” the UK Trade Commissioner for Africa said.
