The Portuguese Embassy in Maputo announced on Sunday the scheduling, in conjunction with the Mozambican government, of two flights between Lisbon and Maputo, operated by TAP and with passenger transport in both directions.
Air links between Mozambique and the rest of the world have been suspended since mid-May in the context of the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The flights announced yesterday form part of an initiative responding to specific needs.
There will be two flights from Lisbon to Maputo on July 16 and 23, with return flights from Maputo to Lisbon on July 18 and 25, respectively.
Tickets must be purchased from TAP through the usual channels and at prices defined by the carrier.
The Portuguese Embassy classifies the flights as “humanitarian and repatriation support flights”, and only passengers who meet certain conditions regarding nationality and residence will be allowed to travel.
Mozambique had by Sunday July 12 registered a cumulative total of 1,135 Covid-19 cases, with nine deaths and 349 recoveries.
