Two more bakeries were closed yesterday in Maputo by the Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE).
Mice, animal faeces, spider webs, dirty walls, bathrooms in poor condition and a foul smell characterised the Melú bakery and pastisserie in Chamanculo, which the Inspectorate closed as a public health risk after surveying.
Besides problems related to hygiene and conservation of products, the bakery was found to be selling bread under weight.
The INAE inspected three more commercial establishments, including the Zambezi bakery and confectionery, which they also closed.
The Inspectorate meanwhile allowed the O Forno and Ma Pão Ma Bom bakeries, closed some days ago for unhygienic conditions, to reopen.
