Mozambique: Food assistance for 500 families affected by drought in four districts of northern Gaza
Twenty three Mozambican scholarship students are heading for Japan this week to continue their studies at master’s level or in an African Business Education professional youth internship.
A farewell ceremony last night in the city of Maputo led by the resident representative of the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA), Hiroaki Endo, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technician (MCTESP).

The project is part of the commitment made by Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, at the 2013 Fifth International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama, Japan, in which he undertook to place 1,000 young Africans in public, private and academic institutions by 2017.
According to a press release received by Noticias, the initiative aims to support the growth of Africa through by training young people to contribute to the development of industries in partnership with the Japanese private sector.

Seventeen Mozambicans have already completed studies under the program and returned to the country, while 63 others are still in Japan. Of these, 19 left in 2014, 32 in 2015 and 29 last year.
The latest group of candidates are from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Pedagogical University and Unilúrio, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and Human Development, private companies, FIPAG and others.
“At TICAD VI, held in Nairobi, Kenya, the program was extended for three more years, and is now in the process of applying for the fifth phase, in which priority will be given to candidates from the provinces of Nampula, Niassa, Tete, Zambézia and Cabo Delgado, and prioritises women,” the press release reads.
