A Turkish state-run aid agency has strengthened the information infrastructure of a resource center in Mozambique to help the country’s historical research.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) developed a project and equipped the resource centre in Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, capital of the East African country, according to a statement Wednesday.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the resource centre, Alda Costa, head of the Cultural Relations Department of the university, said the project will support research into Mozambique’s colonial period.
“It makes us happy to see that the cooperation started with the exhibition of photographs taken by Turkish and Mozambican volunteers in 2018 has reached here,” Costa said.
TIKA’s Maputo Program Coordinator Omer Faruk Mergen said they are pleased to support work being done in the history of Mozambique.
Joint studies in archive management are also planned between Eduardo Mondlane University and TIKA.
