Construction work on a 5.5-kilometre stretch of road from the EN1 to Mucatine, Matola municipality, is starting shortly. The works are budgeted at 86 million meticais.
Construction of the Tsivene – Mucatine Road, traversing the Intaka and Boquisso neighbourhoods in Matola municipality, will begin at the intersection with the EN1, and is good news for those who daily use this much-degraded route.
Construction has not yet started, but there is already much anticipation among the future beneficiaries.
Matola mayor, Calisto Cossa, announced in Boquisso that the start of construction depended on Administrative Court approval.
The road, which will be under management of the National Road Administration, will have total a length of 12km, from Tsivene, on the EN1, to the area bordering Moamba district. The road will be paved in phases.
The mayor announced that the Mucatine, Intaka and Ngolhosa neighbourhoods electrification project was running in parallel with the road refurbishment.
A stretch of road long in need of intervention, as those living in Boquisso, like Mr. Paulo, can attest. And not only residents, but carriers too complain about the current state of this road, much used to convey both passengers and goods to various destinations, including Maputo.
