A ‘Hino’ brand truck registration SJV 790L, loaded with diverse merchandise and traversing the EN6 from South Africa to Malawi burned out completely yesterday afternoon while it kept moving in the administrative post of Messica, Manica province.
The occupants of the truck disembarked in time when they realised that the vehicle was on fire. Moments of panic and despair and attempts to quell the flames followed, but to no avail.
Other traffic news imparted to Notícias yesterday by the National Service of Public Safety (SENSAP). include an accident involving a Nissan UD registration AEO 023 MC and a Mitsubishi Canter registration MMP-70-96 on the EN1 near ACIPOL in Maputo in the early hours of yesterday morning.
One person was seriously injured and was taken to Jose Macamo General Hospital. Material damage was extensive.
These incidents occur at a time when appeals are growing for drivers to comply with Road Code rules and verify their vehicles’ roadworthiness more regularly.
