Tropical Storm Erin formed near the Cape Verde Islands, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday.
The storm is located about 280 miles (455 km) west-northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour (75 km/h).
