Traffic circulation on National Highway Number 1 (EN1) between Nicoadala and Namacurra in Zambézia is restricted from Monday (10-10) on to allow for rehabilitation and expansion works.
A National Road Administration (ANE) announcement states that the restrictions, affecting the road between Quinta do Girassol Nicoadala to the district headquarters town, may last up to four months.
A 17-kilometre detour has been arranged, the announcement also informs. “A detour has been signposted, with roadside guides to ensure the safety and convenience of users. Circulation is open to all types of vehicles, without restrictions on gross weight, under the terms and limits established by law,” the ANE note reveals.
Rehabilitation and expansion works on the N1/N10 road began in 2021, with plans to widen it from the current nine to 12 metres over a length of 70 kilometres.
The ANE announcement calls for road-users’ understanding and cooperation for the duration of the works.
