Traffic on Maputo’s Avenida Marginal, between the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre and Rua do Palmar (by the old Fish Market), will be restricted for nine days from 8:00 p.m. today to permit the construction of two rainwater drainage structures in the area surrounding the new US Embassy complex.
Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) and the Maputo Sul Development Company Residual Commission (EDMS) say the stretch will be totally closed today, (Friday, from 8 p.m.), Saturday and Sunday, and on July 27 and 28 (next weekend). For the rest of the time, restricted circulation will be permitted between 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and completely prohibited for the remainder of the day.
Normal circulation is expected to resume on 29 July.
In order to ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians until then, the traffic management plan designed for this purpose is to be punctiliously observed by all concerned.
