Richard Benyon arrived in Maputo yesterday for a three-day visit centred on boosting trade relations between the UK and Mozambique and creating opportunities for UK businesses to strengthen their knowledge of the growing commercial opportunities in Mozambique.
During the visit, the Trade Envoy will meet the Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosárion as well as representatives of the import and export sectors, local oil and gas operators and regulators, and interact with the network of British Businesses in Mozambique (BBCM).
He will also undertake field visits to some of UK investment projects in Mozambique.
The main objective of these engagements is to build the basis for greater commercial links between the UK and Mozambique.
Richard Benyon MP
Richard Benyon was re-elected MP for Newbury on May 7th 2015. He is the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Lord Strathclyde, the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords. Richard’s interests in Parliament include defence, health and rural issues. He has a particular interest in African affairs and is a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs. In his constituency of Newbury he has been associated with many local voluntary bodies including the Citizens Advice Bureau, a rural education charity and organisations helping the mentally ill. He is one of the founding Trustees of the services charity Help for Heroes. Richard was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Democratic Republic of Congo, Ehthiopia and Mozambique in January 2016.
