Mozambique: Nelsa Guambe opens solo exhibition in Maputo

Twenty Fingers’ “Together We Are Stronger”, dedicated to the victims of Cyclone Idai, was voted Mozambique’s Best Song of 2019 at the finale of the country’s oldest music festival, Ngoma Mozambique, held in Maputo last Friday (November 29).
The singer and songwriter announced after receiving the prize that part of the 180,000 meticais prize money would be channelled to the victims of the cyclone that hit central Mozambique last March.
Also awarded were Liza James, whose song “Ni Txati Mina” was voted Most Popular, Big Leot with “Rosa” for Most Voted song, and Beauty Sitoe, who took Best Voice with the song “Melody”.
The revelation prize of the 33rd edition of Ngoma, which is organised by Radio Mozambique, went to Mapingue, with the song “RuRu”, and the Radio Mozambique career prize went to musician ChuChu Niassa.
