Speakers from five Toastmasters clubs competed in the Area I1 speaking contest held in Maputo on Saturday March 9. Club champions from Witbank/eMalahleni, Nelspruit/ Mbombela and Mbabane Toastmasters club were pitted against participants from the organising Kula Club as well as Maputo Toastmasters. An international crowd of 40 gathered to listen to speakers vying for the number one spot in three hotly contested categories: International speech, Table topics and Evaluation. The winners are Abias Mapanzure (Maputo Toastmasters), Zani Barrish (Crocodile Nelspruit) and Andy Kendal (eMalahleni Toastmasters). The winners and the runners up will go on to compete at the Southern Africa district level.
