Mozambique: One dead after terrorist attack on a truck - AIM report
RM / Ivone Pedro
The Mozambican police on Friday arrested three people accused of the murder of a Radio Mozambique manager, Ivone Pedro, who worked at the radio’s Maputo station, Radio Cidade.
Pedro was stabbed to death on Thursday afternoon at her home in the Juba neighbourhood, in the city of Matola.
According to the Radio Mozambique report on the arrests, two of the men deny the charge, but the third, Pedro’s 17 year old nephew, has confessed. He said he killed his aunt out of “desperation”.
He said he had been hiding in Pedro’s house since Monday without her knowledge or consent. He told the police he stabbed her when she returned from work at about 15.00 on Thursday.
The group made the mistake of stealing Pedro’s car. According to Emidio Mabone, head of operations in the Matola police station where the three are currently incarcerated, they were picked up when they were found driving the stolen car.
