Gaza police suspend team on duty in Incoluane on the day of the accident
Two children died last week in Nacarôa district, Nampula province, after eating domestic rats poisoned with Ratex, provincial police spokesman Zacarias Nacute announced today.
According to Nacute, preliminary tests indicate that there is strong evidence that the 12 and 17-year-olds had been poisoned.
“The minors were found dead in the home of their brother, where they lived. The autopsy suggested that they died from consuming rats poisoned by Ratex, a product many people use to get rid of the vermin,” the source said.
Ratex rodenticide is a second-generation, single-dose household anticoagulant which causes death by bleeding.
Also during his weekly news round-up, Nacute said that another 12-year-old child died after the collapse of a classroom wall in the Larde Community Primary School.
A technical PRM team was sent to the scene to try to determine the cause.
“Preliminary data indicate that the wall collapsed firstly because it was old and secondly because of a whirlwind causing it to fall, killing the child,” Nacute explained.
Also this week, the PRM in Nampula recovered two AKM-47 type weapons with 30 rounds of ammunition and a pistol with eight bullets. Investigations were underway to ascertain the provenance of the guns and the intentions of their bearers, Nacute said.
“We found two people in possession of AKM-47 type weapons in Rapale district, and are currently following the legal steps necessary to hold them accountable for the crime of illegal possession of firearms,” Nacute said.
Nacute also said that the PRM in Nampula recorded two railway and three road accidents during the week, resulting in one and two deaths respectively, along with injuries and considerable material damage.
