Threatening letter releases truck carrying Renamo food supplies – Diário da Zambézia

Police in Morrumbala have released the truck carrying Renamo food supplies to Sabe, scene of many clashes between Afonso Dhlakama’s men and defence and security forces.
The truck had been seized on Sunday and was impounded at the local police command.
It is thought that the release of the truck may be related to an alleged threatening letter demanding the unconditional release of Renamos groceries on pains of an attack targeting the district headquarters.
Two days later, and the truck was released without demur.
Contacted on Tuesday, the district police commander declined to discuss the matter, saying that it was the government’s decision, but Diário da Zambezia sources affirm that it was the threatening letter that did the trick.
