The Confederation of Mozambican Business Associations (CTA) believes that there is a great potential to be explored in the area of economic and business cooperation between Mozambique and Finland.
According to CTA chairman, Álvaro Massingue, speaking to reporters on Wednesday after meeting the Finnish Ambassador to Mozambique, Satu Lassila, Mozambique and Finland still must expand the business cooperation, boosting the opportunities for the private sector, “and identifying specific areas for strengthening institutional collaboration.”
“Despite the progress made in cooperation between Mozambique and Finland, there is still great potential to be explored in the area of economic and business cooperation. We must diversify business cooperation, promoting strategic partnerships”, he said.
“We must develop partnerships between Mozambican and Finnish companies, joint ventures, technology transfer, and the strengthening of local value chains”, he added.
Massingue believes that Finland’s expertise is crucial for the country’s innovation, sustainability and digitalization.
“Finland can offer transformative contributions to our business ecosystem, especially to small and medium-sized enterprises, which are the backbone of our economy”, he said.
During the meeting, CTA invited the Embassy of Finland to participate in the 20th Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP), scheduled from 12 to 14 November of this year.
Over the last year, the bilateral trade volume between Mozambique and Finland was below about 15 million US dollars, with Mozambican exports consisting primarily of agricultural and mineral products.
