Roads in Zambezia, specifically in the areas of Zero, Morrumbala, and Murothone, Mocuba, have been the scene of alleged Renamo attacks in the last few days as reported by the Diário da Zambézia.
Provincial Police Commander João Mahunguele however maintains that “the province is under control” and all is right despite the political and military situation.
Mahunguele was speaking to reporters after the laying of a wreath in Heroes’ Square during celebrations to mark the forty-first anniversary of the PRM’s foundation on Tuesday (May 17).
He went on to explain that the corporation would continue to work within the legal framework to ensure public order and tranquillity in the province, but needed the public’s help in fighting transgressors.
Mahunguele said he was shocked that the alleged Renamo men could attack vehicles, take lives, injure people and cause widespread damage in a country like ours, where the fight for development is still very ‘hot’.
