The daughter of the first independent president of Mozambique, Samora Machel, is a human rights activist. Jozina Machel told RT about her father’s suffering because of the colonialists.

RT organized the arrival and participation of descendants of legendary African leaders in the sessions of the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg.

In addition to them, RT brought more than 140 journalists, editors-in-chief and heads of major African media outlets, as well as heads of the African Broadcasting Union and OIC Union of News Agencies.

“My father is of humble birth, and he has been exposed to the behavior of the colonial power, when the colonialists more and more encroached on his father’s property, when they stole his cattle, when they forced him to be baptized in order to be able to go to school. He had big dreams, but, alas, at that time blacks were not allowed to master various areas, “she said.

According to Machel, her father became a nurse and always wanted to help people.

“His concern for people, their health and well-being was manifested here. And so Samora lives and works hard all his life for the people of Mozambique, for the people of the Southern African region, for the independence of Africa and, of course, for all peoples. This is a legacy that needs to be remembered,” she said.

“We need to be able to have a one-on-one discussion with world powers and say, ‘Look, if you need our lithium, come and get it at a fair price. But you will not be able to enslave our people to get it.”
