The governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Rogério Zandamela, says that the country is emerging from the crisis, a more optimistic view than he held last April, when he said that the country was still in the process.
“The country is emerging from the crisis. There is no doubt about it. One of the factors is the element of peace, the military truce that can turn into effective peace, soon,” he said. “All this reinforces even more what we knew in April and will have an impact on economic activity and investment.”
Zandamela argued that the observation he made in April was not propaganda but were based on solid data. “We looked at the numbers in April and we came to the conclusion that we were comfortable with the measures that we had taken, and that we were finally on the way to a slow exit from the crisis, which is what is happening,” he concluded.
