The circulation of heavy goods vehicles on the road between Zumbo and Marávia districts in Tete province has been interrupted by heavy rain.
Vehicles transporting goods from the provincial capital to Zumbo district are being constrained by the degradation of the road, and only light vehicles are circulating.
Zumbo administrator John Manhoso explained that rainfall was responsible for the erosion of the main highway.
It is feared that the situation could contribute to a scarcity of basic necessities, and perhaps price speculation.
