The Governor of Tete, Paulo Auade, recently revealed a list of challenges and priorities to be tackled by the local government during the course of 2016.
These priorities mainly focus on road infrastructure, water supply, the health sector, education and agriculture.
In terms of road infrastructure, the government has prioritised the 74 improvement, rehabilitation and maintenance of road networks in order to ensure the improved flow of goods and people.
The provincial government of Tete also aims to increase the water supply coverage in urban and rural areas and to expand the supply network within the province as a whole.
Additionally, the provincial government has prioritised the construction and rehabilitation of water sources and fountains.
One of the biggest concerns for the local government at this time is the expansion of the local health sector. As such, the government of Tete aims to expand and improve all health services to the public via the construction of more health facilities and the allocation of technical personnel. In addition, the local government will prioritise the availability of medicines.
In terms of education, the local government plans to increase investments in technical and vocational training.
The provincial government of Tete has also prioritised agricultural production, livestock and fisheries in order to promote the empowerment of the population and self-employment.
