An alleged Ugandan healer was in the grip of the police in Tete on Monday accused of forgery and swindling to the tune of at least 300,000 meticais.
Police told A Verdade that the man promised to cure various diseases and solve the problems which his customers presented, and was apprehended in possession of the money in question as he was about to fool another victim.
Tete Provincial Command press officer Lurdes Ferreira said the alleged charlatan was turned in by customers who had not witnessed the promised healing or improvement in their luck.
The healer was also found in possession of several allegedly documents forged from various African countries. He denies the charges against him and says he does not know the people who are accusing him.
