Former information minister Teodato Hunguana, was on Wednesday (August 10) awarded the Mozambique High Media Council’s Joaquim Chissano Feedom of the Press prize.
The distinction recognize’s Hunguana’s role in promoting freedom of the press, and was presented by former president Joaquim Chissano, patron of the initiative.
“Freedom of expression is not a peaceful issue and needs to be embraced,” the former statesman said as he handed over the prize.
Teodato Hunguana also served as Minister of Justice and Supreme Court judge, and was one of the key figures in the negotiations of the General Peace Agreement signed in Rome in 1992.
