ENCA / Lily Mine following collapse
Ten Mozambican miners suffered slight injuries following the collapse of a structure in the Lily gold mine in Barberton, Mpumalanga province, South Africa, on Friday.
According to Mozambique Television (TVM), officials from the Mozambican consulate in Nelspruit travelled to Barberton where they were told that the Mozambicans are out of danger.
According to consular staff, about 30 Mozambicans were working in the Australian-run mine at the time. The company is continuing to search for three miners still missing after the collapse that initially trapped nearly 80 workers.
The three missing are two women and a man, all of South African nationality.
TVM reported that 76 miners, including the Mozambicans, were brought to the surface on Friday, some with minor abrasions.
Consular staff are continuing to monitor the welfare of the Mozambicans affected.
