Telecom Namibia on Wednesday issued a public warning against fraudsters going about calling and emailing prospective users promising them space in the national telephone directory. Oiva Angula, the company’s corporate communications manager said people are receiving calls from individuals claiming to be representatives of the state-owned telecommunication entity.
Telecom Namibia has contracted TDS Namibia to do the sale of advertising space and the compilation and supply of the printed telephone directory until 2018.
Angula said Telecom Namibia has no contract with any parties other than TDS Namibia and advised the public “to be careful and vigilant when receiving such emails and phone calls”.
