Mozambican Tax Authority in Tete province has seized about 17,500 cell phones and 1,010 other office supply articles at Mboza’s Moatize checkpoint on National Road No.7.
The seizure is the result of a prolonged investigation carried out by Customs in the province, according to a statement.
The products seized are the subject of unpaid duties and other taxes amounting to just over three million meticais. If the owners do not pay amount owed, the merchandise will revert to the state.
