DRC prosecutor seeks death penalty for former leader Joseph Kabila
Switzerland has signed a co-operation agreement with the Tanzanian government that would help the east African country recover money illegally kept in Swiss banks by Tanzanian nationals, reports BBC.
According to Tanzania’s foreign minister Augustine Mahiga the co-operation agreement included the “sharing [of] intelligence on economic crime”.
This came as the country’s president John Magafuli continues with his fights against corruption and wasteful expenditure in government since taking office last year.
Opposition parties had reportedly been long calling for the government to act against officials and businessmen suspected of hiding money abroad.
