The Swedish government will cooperate with Mozambique in the areas of renewable energy and also access to financing through the Climate Fund.
The information was shared this Friday, by the Minister of Land and Environment, Ivete Maibaze, at the end of a meeting she had with the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation, Matilda Ernkrans, on the sidelines of the International Climate Conference, Stockholm +50, in Sweden.
“Mozambique and Sweden will continue to cooperate and work together on environmental issues related to forests, conservation and climate change. But the area of renewable energies was also identified to be part of the cooperation package, which includes access to finance through climate funds and the strengthening of institutional capacity,” reads a Ministry of Environment press release..
During the meeting with Matilda Ernkrans, Ivete Maibaze talked about the positive impacts of climate adaptation and resilience initiatives, focusing on the Local Adaptation Plans (PLAs) being implemented at district level n Mozambique.
Matilda Ernkrans reiterated the importance of the existing cooperation between Sweden and Mozambique and spoke of the need to carry out a survey to assess the impact of initiatives and projects with Swedish funding, in order to later define new lines of action and consolidate the existing ones.
