The Swazi government has started distributing food as farmers are not able to plant their maize crops on time. Marketing Co-ordinator of Big Game Parks, Melusi Dlamini says they are importing hay from South Africa.
“It’s shocking actually and it’s a very sad situation because already we have lost about 40 000 – 50 000 cattle. Everyone has been saying either you sell your cattle or cull, because cattle are dying you know. If you notice, there’s a lot of donkeys; more than cattle out there. If you’ve been to Swaziland before you’ll realise we’ve got cattle, lots and lots of cattle. But all of a sudden all you can see is donkeys and less cattle,” says Dlamini.
